How it works

How a random video chat with girls works, screen by screen

From the first tap to the first face on your screen, and what every button does once you are in a call.

Random video chat sounds simple until you are staring at a permission prompt wondering what happens after you press Allow. Here is the whole flow on RandomGirl, in the order you will see it, with the parts people usually ask about: what random actually means here, what the other person sees, what Next does, and where coins come in.

You can also skip the random part entirely. The same site lets you browse girls who are online, open a profile, and call or message her directly. Both routes are described here.

The three screens between you and a live call

Nothing on RandomGirl asks you to fill in a form before you talk to someone. The flow is built for a phone in one hand.

  1. 1

Tap Start and confirm your age

The first screen asks one thing: that you are 18 or older. Tick the box and enter. In the background RandomGirl creates a guest session for you, which is why no email or password appears here. That session is what lets you use your free matches straight away.

  2. 2

    Allow camera and microphone

Your browser, not RandomGirl, shows the permission prompt. Press Allow once and it remembers your choice for this site; you can change it any time under the site settings in your browser. If you see a black preview or the prompt never appears, the camera fix guide sorts it out in a couple of minutes.

  3. 3

    Get matched and talk

The matching connects you with a girl who is online at that moment. Her video fills the screen, your own preview sits in the corner, and the two buttons that matter are right under your thumb: Next, and end call. Say hi. Most people find the first minute is easier than they expected because she is used to strangers appearing on her screen.

What "random" means on RandomGirl

A random match pulls from the girls who are live right now, not from everyone with a profile. You do not pick her and she does not pick you; the matching pairs the two of you because you both pressed the button around the same time. That is what keeps it fast, and it is also why who you meet changes with the time of day. Evenings in the Americas are the busiest hours, with girls from Colombia, Venezuela, Mexico, Argentina and Peru; the Philippines fills the hours when Europe is asleep.

Every match is one-on-one. No third person can join the call and nobody can watch it. When either of you leaves, the room closes. If you want to talk to the same girl again, follow her profile during or after the call; otherwise a random match does not give either of you a way back to the other.

What every button does during a call

  • NextEnds the current call for both of you and asks the matching for the next girl who is live. There is no penalty and no cooldown; press it as often as you like.
  • Camera toggleTurns your own video off or on mid-call. A random match starts with both cameras on; a call you place from a profile can start with yours off.
  • MuteSilences your microphone. She still sees you unless you also switch the camera off.
  • Gift and messageSend a gift from the call screen or type a message. Gifts and messages use coins; the price shows before you confirm.
  • FollowSaves her profile so you can call or message her later instead of relying on the random matching to find her again.
  • Report and blockReport sends the call to review; block ends it and stops that person reaching you again. Both are one tap from the call screen and from every profile.

Calling a girl you choose instead of a random one

The online list is the other way in. It shows girls who are live right now with a photo, a name, a flag and sometimes a short intro. Open a profile, look at her photos, and you have three options: video call, voice call, or message. A call you start from a profile can begin with your camera off, so you can hear her first and switch video on when you are comfortable.

The two routes use the same coins and the same rules. Random matching is the free way to meet someone new; profiles are how you go back to someone you liked. Plenty of people use both in the same session: a few random matches, then a direct call to the girl they clicked with.

What happens after your free matches

The match screen shows how many free matches you have left. When they run out, calls use coins. You can keep browsing profiles, reading intros and receiving messages without coins; a call or a sent message is what spends them. Packs start at $1.99, there is no card required before your first call, and the free coins and pricing page lists every pack and what it buys.

Topping up is also the moment you add an email to the guest session, so your balance and your conversations stay attached to you between devices and visits.

Free matches are per account, so the guest session you started with is the one that holds them. Add an email before you switch devices if you want the same session on both.

Things that make the first call better

  • Have light in front of you, not behind you. A window or a lamp facing you makes more difference than any camera.
  • Say hello first. She meets a lot of silent squares; a greeting and a question about where she is from gets a real answer.
  • Use headphones on a phone. Echo is the most common reason a first call feels awkward, and headphones remove it.
  • If the video stutters, switch to a voice call rather than dropping out. It uses far less data and keeps the conversation.
  • Press Next without guilt. She has the same button and uses it too.

Questions people ask before their first call

Do I need an account to start a random video chat?

You start as a guest: a session is created when you tap Start, so there is no email or password form before your first call. You add an email later if you want to top up coins and keep your balance across devices.

How long does it take to get matched?

It depends on how many girls are live at that moment. Evenings in the Americas and Europe are the busiest; at quiet hours you may wait a little longer or see the same faces more than once, and the online list is a good fallback.

Can I choose the country or language?

A random match does not filter by country. If you want a girl from a specific place or who speaks your language, use the online list, where each profile shows a flag, and call her directly.

What does the girl see when we match?

Your camera feed (when it is on), the display name you chose and anything you type or say. She cannot see your email, phone number, location or account details. The safety page goes through this in detail.

Why does the camera prompt not appear?

Usually because the browser already denied it for this site, or another app is holding the camera. The camera fix guide covers Android, iPhone and desktop step by step.

Is there an app I should install instead?

RandomGirl runs in the browser and can be added to your home screen so it opens like an app. Nothing is downloaded from an app store. See the video call app page.
